fund logoBrighton Energy Coop recently launched our new Community Fund. This year the fund is for £2,500, and is open for any organisation in the Brighton and Hove, East or West Sussex areas.

The aim of the fund is to support local generation of renewable electricity or implement energy efficiency measures, as has been our intention for BEC since we began. You can see more about the fund here; the online application form is here, see here for guidance.

The fund is paid for by the Feed in Tariff on BEC’s existing systems, another good reason why the government should reconsider the proposed drastic cuts to FITs scheduled for 1st January (for those projects that have not been pre-accredited).

This year BEC has also paid out £34,000 interest to members. We’ve also paid back £17,000 of capital members wishing to leave.

Please feel free to share this post to let people know about the fund. We’re looking to receive applications by the end of November, with a decision mid December, and projects completed by March 2016.

Applications can be sent via email to stefania@brightonenergy.org.uk or via post to 7, 47 Montpelier Road, Brighton, BN1 3B.
