The awards are a leading national celebration of pioneering innovation and sustainable development for the UK’s energy system. We’re shortlisted in the Community Energy section, which recognises the role of inspiring community energy groups across the UK who are “supporting the change to a more democratic and decentralised energy system”. The nomination recognises BEC’s continuing action against climate change, including:
- over 80 solar PV arrays installed, that’s 3.5MW of community owned renewable generation
- supporting SMEs to purchase rooftop solar & EV charge points
- the first community owned “PV & EV” charge point network
- supporting the next generation’s involvement in renewables through our paid opportunities for interns and funding our solar education program for local schools
BEC will now go through to the final stage of judging by an expert panel of independent judges, before the winners are announced at the awards ceremony on 30th March 2022.
