Wow. In the nine days since we launched our latest share offer we’ve raised £150,000 towards our new solar build at Rathfinny Wine Estate. A big welcome to the many of you who have recently joined BEC – we literally can’t do it without you.

It’s always humbling to be part of BEC during a fund-raising period. There’s a sense of awe to watch so many people put their money where their mouth is and help us build more community energy. And it works – together at BEC over the last twelve years we’ve built solar on schools, colleges, university, small businesses, churches – and many more. See all the projects we’ve built here.

Our fund raise target this time is £482,000 for a 578 kWp solar system of nearly 2000 solar panels. This will provide clean, green solar electricity to power the Rathfinny’s wine-making process, tasting room, shop and accommodation. Any unused solar electricity will go into the grid.

It’s BEC’s largest installation to date and will save more than 400 tons of CO2 each year. We are expecting to pay 5% on all investments for the first 2 years and 3.5% thereafter; a portion of earnings from the project will also go towards our community fund that helps local schools reduce their energy costs and emissions through our Solar Education Programmes. Check out full details of the project here, and you can join BEC here.

Taking action on climate change has never been more important so joining BEC is a chance to stand up for what you believe in, and help us build a renewable future.

Be a part of it – you can join BEC here.
