Battery and Off-Grid systems

Over the last seven years we’ve developed a particularly speciality: getting solar projects built. Building on that, recently we’ve been asked to project manage an associated area: off-grid solar-battery systems

This is a offshoot of our main community energy activities, but may well be incorporated into community-owned projects in the future. Meanwhile, see below for the systems we’ve built and if you’d like us to help on your off-grid or battery project then drop us a line via the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Moulescoomb Forest Garden

Built in winter 2017/18, this system has 14 solar panels that sit on the roof of the Eco Cabin at Moulescoomb Forest Garden (MFG) in Brighton. With 4kWp of solar and 4kWh of storage there’s plenty of power for MFG’s kettles, lighting and charging for power tools, and will allow MFG to hold events and seminars in this delightful strawbale cabin. Online monitoring means the MFG team can check what’s going on at any time.

Preston New Road Protection Camp

Built in the summer of 2017, this 1kwp system has 1kwh battery storage and provides power to the communal areas of the Preston New Road Protection Camp on the outskirts of Blackpool. The system generates power that’s used for the anti-fracking camp’s lighting, as well as charging phones and laptops. Using SolarEpic charge controllers and Victron inverters, the system is fully self-regulating with built in over and under charge protection.
